Richard Dale Clarke, Jr.

Richard Dale Clarke, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on May 11, 2026, at the age of 78 after suffering a stroke.

Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 6, 1947, to Richard Dale Clarke Sr and Florence Ettie Stanley. Richard was raised in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Granite High School and Trade Technical College at Salt Lake. At college he met his sweetheart Nelda Housley, and they were married on June 26, 1968, in the Logan Temple. They were married for almost 58 years and will be together for eternity.

Richard and Nelda spent 52 years living in Clearfield, Utah raising their family. They were blessed with four children. Richard enjoyed having the family together and taking his family sightseeing and camping. He loved giving and receiving hugs.

He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 37 years as an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic.Richard is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held several church callings. One of his favorites was being the Audio-Visual Specialist. He served for 10 years in a Branch Care Center with his wife. He enjoyed doing temple work. He and Nelda took many tour trips here in the states and some outside our beautiful country. He was a Star Wars fan and loved re-watching, or rather listening, to all the movies.

Despite many surgeries, Richard lost most of his eyesight in 2020 due to glaucoma, but he still helped his wife by pushing her wheelchair with her navigating since 2025.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nelda; his children Katrina (Troy), Daylene (Chad), and Justin (Heather); 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Frederick. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Chrystal.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Bountiful 4th Ward meetinghouse located at 102 East 1400 South, Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing on Friday, May 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary at 295 N Main St., Bountiful, UT or on Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church.

The family wishes to thank the director and staff at Creekside Senior Living for their skillful and compassionate care. They are also grateful for the many family members, friends, and neighbors who offered love and support.Interment will be at Clearfield City Cemetery.
