Richard Frank Bennett (83) passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born on July 10, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN, and moved thereafter to Englewood, CA, and to Pasadena, CA, where he grew up. He attended the Pasadena State College prior to going on a proselyting mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Alaskan-Canadian Mission. Upon return, he attended and graduated Brigham Young University, where he met his first wife Anabelle, and afterwards began his teaching career. He mainly taught U.S. History, first at Cypress High School, then moved to Skyline High School, and afterward taught at Wasatch Junior High and then completed his career doing Home and Hospital teaching.
Richard was a proud father of four children and a grandfather of many. He was a gifted speaker, loved to travel and photograph, enjoyed his pets and making wood carvings, as well as collect books, nutcrackers, and character mugs. Later in life he enjoyed spending time and traveling the country with his second wife, Karen, taking wood carving classes, and going to the movies with his cousins and his son, Greg. Some of his greatest qualities that were hard learned were that of a kind and generous heart, and being able to know and appreciate the blessings that he had in life.
Richard is survived by his second wife, his sister Marilyn Lanier, his brother Randell Bennett, and by his four children Nancy, Greg, Wendy, and Kelli. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Reeve Bennett and Helen Augusta Fullmer, most of his cousins, as well as one granddaughter Lilly Bennett.
