Reldon Clark White

Reldon Clark White, 86, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026 at the Legacy House in Ogden, UT.

He was born in the Star Valley Hospital in Afton, Wyoming on December 19, 1939 to Hilda Verena Clark and Gordon Myron White. He was the 4 th of 6 children and the second son born to his parents. Growing up on a farm, he learned the value of hard work and appreciated the simple things that come with working together as a family. He also learned the blessings that come from paying tithing at a young age and has shared his testimony of tithing with each of his children. In High School he decided to try out for acting and had several parts in plays and operettas which he continued when he was at Ricks College. He realized his love for singing and dance and has kept that love throughout his life.

After he graduated from Ricks College, he decided to serve a mission and was called to the New Zealand mission. He developed a great love for the South Sea Islanders, particularly the native Maoris, Tongan and Somaon people. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was instilled in him by his parents at a young age and his testimony grew as he served his mission. 

After his mission, Reldon continued his schooling at BYU in Provo, UT. During the summers he returned home to work on the farm. It was at one of these school breaks when he was home that he received a surprise visit from his sister’s friend, Doreen Cheney. As he recounts, he was in his best cowbarn clothes when he was introduced. They corresponded through letters and were soon engaged and accepted an invitation for a double wedding with Reldon’s sister Rama and Doreen’s brother, Delbert who were already engaged. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on July 29, 1964. Reldon continued his education receiving his bachelor’s degree in history and then on to complete his Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He accepted a job as a Safety Engineer for U.S.F.& G. where he worked until he retired.

After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and missionary work with Doreen; serving three missions together and working on genealogy and temple work. He loved being around his grandkids and spending time with them on vacations. 

He was a good example of being a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, attending church weekly, fulfilling church callings and teaching his family the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his children Arden (Rosalie) White, Chantell (Brian) Talbot, Catrina (Kevin) Oliver, Nanette (Jonathon) Butt, Brandon (Becca) White, 20 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Gordon (Donna) White, Vona (Lyle) Hunsaker.

He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Doreen Cheney, granddaughter Ella White, grandson Alex White, great-grandson Brooks Ralph Talbot, his sisters Klea White, Nada Fluckiger, Rama (Delbert) Cheney and by his parents Gordon Myron White & Hilda White.

A viewing will be held on Saturday August 29th from 9:00am-9:30am at the East Chapel in Ogden, UT. 1465 E 4600 S, Ogden, UT. The funeral will follow the viewing at 9:45am. Following the funeral, the family will travel to Thayne, WY for the internment at the Thayne Cemetery.
