Renae Tibbitts

April 25, 1948 — January 28, 2026

Renae Tibbitts passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2026. She was born April 25, 1948 to Don and Nora Tibbitts. Renae was a life-long resident of Bountiful and lived most of her life in the house that her grandfather and father built, a home filled with decades of fond memories.

Renae was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. She touched many lives through her kindness and service to others. Her devotion was especially clear in the many years she spent as a caregiver for both her father and mother.

One of Renae’s lasting gifts to her family was her passion for family history. Through years of careful research and organization she preserved stories that might otherwise have been lost. Each Christmas, family members eagerly awaited another “chapter” of what became an ever-expanding book of family history. It was a labor of love that will benefit generations to come.

Renae was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully for many years as a Primary pianist. She loved her ward and her friendships, often enjoying lunch dates with her work, church and neighborhood friends.

Renae was a proud graduate of the University of Utah. She spent her entire professional career at Zions Bank, where she retired as an Assistant Vice President. Renae was an avid reader and especially loved cozy mysteries like Agatha Christie novels. She also enjoyed word games (she reached an impossibly high level in Wordscapes!) and enjoyed reruns of TV classics. She was also a loyal and unapologetic fan of Neil Diamond.

Of course no summary of Renae’s life would be complete without mentioning her cats. Over the years she lovingly cared for several, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Penny, her famously feisty cat, was truly one of a kind. Renae may have been the only person with enough patience, love and mutual understanding to truly adore Penny, and the feeling was mutual.

Renae lived a quiet life, but her friends, family, and caregivers were blessed by her humor, kindness, devotion, generosity and love. She laughed often - regardless of any challenges life brought. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Renae was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Nora, and her sister, Karen Carey (Tom). She is survived by her brother, Kent (Cecelia), and her sister, Lorraine Beer (Doug) and many, many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026. A viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Bountiful 2nd Ward, located at 650 South 200 East in Bountiful, Utah. Interment will follow at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery.
