Ping "Tom" Banh

March 27, 1948 — November 1, 2025

Wood Cross, UT

As if the world had stopped moving, Ping “Tom” Banh left this life peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his beloved family.

There are no words that can truly describe the man he was. He was the structure and soul of the Banh family — a gentle caretaker to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether you knew him as a friend, uncle, grandfather, father, or husband, his presence touched your life in a way you would never forget.

Shy at heart but with a smile that could light up a room, he carried a quiet strength that uplifted those around him. No matter how dark or shallow the place, his hand was always there — steady, kind, and ready to lift you up. When others felt invisible in their suffering, his presence soothed the hurt and filled the moment with something kind and heartfelt. Whether or not you were family by blood, he gave of himself freely, always ready to lend a helping hand.

There was no challenge in life greater than Ping — and it is through his strength, resilience, and love that those who knew him have become who they are. Even as his heart began to fail, it remained pure, steady, and more loving than anyone else’s.

With Ping gone, the world feels a little off balance, yet we must never forget the sacrifices he made for us to be here. He built a stubborn family just like him, and that is how he will continue to live on. Though he may no longer be with us, his care and guidance remain. If ever you feel alone, sad, or unsure, pause, take a breath, and feel his hand on your shoulder — reminding you to listen to your heart, just as he would have wanted. Remember his smile, his laughter, the sparkle in his eyes, and the warmth in his voice urging you onward. Remember him, for in your heart, you will always hear his words.

Ping was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and came to the United States in October 1979. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Thanh Luu; their son, Chad Banh; their daughters, Diana, Jamie, and Eva Banh; and four cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his second son, Andy, whose memory remained close to Ping’s heart throughout his life. To all who knew him, he was a guardian and protector — offering care, wisdom, and unconditional love to everyone whose life he touched.
