Phillip R. Barber

In loving memory of Phillip R. Barber, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on September 8, 2026 at the age of 91.

Phil was born on January 9th 1935 in Centerville, Utah to Jack and Mildred Barber. Phil was the 4th child of 6 children: Albert, Ray, Norma, Colette, and Shirley.

He married Sally Winegar in the Salt Lake Temple on November 6, 1959. They have 7 children: Jeri, Jeff, Jay and Shae (Liesel), John and Camille, Jim and Aimee, Justin and JoAnn, and Joe and Liz. Phil and Sally have 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 

He leaves for them the best example of Christlike service.

As a young man Phil served a mission in New Mexico, and later served with Sally in South Africa, the Grand Island of the Bahamas and St. Louis, Missouri. They served for many years in Nauvoo supporting the cast in the Nauvoo Pagent. They served in the Bishops storehouse and in the St. George Temple.

Phil served as a Bishop of the Bountiful 7th Ward and many other church callings of which all were his favorite. Phil has blessed the lives of countless people in his life long years of service.

Phil and Sally worked together in the grocery business all their married life, teaching their children and others the importance of hard work and a job well done.His motto was always - you get to work, you don’t have to work.

Phil loved being with his family, whether on a day outing on 4 wheelers and side by sides, family gatherings just to visit, or breakfast on Wednesday mornings with his grandkids. He so loved riding with his friends on their 4 wheelers and side by sides.

Phil will be missed by so many, but his example will go on.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2026 at the Farmington LDS Chapel, 549 South 1525 West, Farmington. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and Monday morning 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment - Lakeview Cemetery.
