Penny Reed Robinson passed peacefully the morning of June 3rd, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1938, in Murray, Utah, to Owen Verl Reed and Fern Ann Mace. Penny grew up in Sandy, Utah where she enjoyed playing with the neighbors, her cousins and helping out her grandma on the weekends. She was always the first one her Dad picked to help out with any chores that needed to be done. Her favorite thing to do on Saturdays was to go to the Lark family dances. She was very involved in school activities. She was on the school drill team as well as a cheerleader. She was also on the girls softball team. Penny grew into a woman of extraordinary warmth and quiet strength.
One of the first female graduates in accounting from LDS Business College, Penny earned her degree with hard work and determination. Penny worked at the Salt Lake City Hardware store where she met Robert (Bob) L. Robinson. They soon fell in love and were married on September 25, 1959, in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. They enjoyed many activities together including bowling and golfing. You could often find her cheering on Bob while he played softball. Eventually they had three children: Todd, Steven and Heather. Penny never missed attending her children's baseball games, tennis matches, football games, gymnastic routines or basketball games.
Penny worked for J.C. Penney's, then at an accounting firm in Salt Lake City, before spending nearly three decades at Cavanaugh's Candies, where she let every grandchild choose a couple of chocolates from the trays when they would come to visit her at work.
Penny loved spending time with her sisters. After all her children had grown and left the house she enjoyed many “Sisters Trips”, where all six of them converged on a city and proceeded to enjoy all the fun they could find. They traveled to Hawaii, New York, and Las Vegas, to name just a few.
Penny was a woman with an abiding faith and a devotion to Jesus Christ. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Penny's unwavering testimony influenced and inspired each of her children and grandchildren in developing their own faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ.
More than anything, Penny loved people. She was happy to help out if called upon when needed. She was the most loyal friend in any circle, and the grandmother whose face lit up the moment her grandchildren walked through the door. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, and much like them, she saw something tender and beautiful in every soul she met.
She is survived by her three children; Todd Robinson, Steven (Lori) Robinson, and Heather (Bruce) Akre, 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. As well as her five sisters: Patricia (James) Jensen, Melody (Larry) Doyle, Nykkie (Ralph) Glad, Cyndy (Kim) Mikesell, and Shelley (Brad) Sanders.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) L. Robinson.
