Pauline Perkes Biggs

Beloved by all who knew her, Pauline Perkes Biggs peacefully passed away at her home on September 16, 2026, at the age of 92, following a long struggle with her health. Her life was marked by faith, service, adventure, creativity, and devotion to family.

Pauline was born March 30, 1934, in Logan, Utah, to Orson Perkes and Naomi Webb Perkes. She was the second of three children and grew up with an enthusiasm for life that remained with her throughout her years.

On January 8, 1954, she married Eugene Sidney Biggs of Preston, Idaho, in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they built a loving home and shared more than sixty years of marriage before Eugene's passing in 2015.

Pauline was energetic, adventurous, and talented. She excelled in softball and was invited to play on the Wellsville City team. She played clarinet in her school orchestra, became a majorette in her high school marching band, and taught herself to play the piano. During high school, she and friends summited the Wellsville Mountains, reflecting a spirit of determination that characterized her life.

Service was central to Pauline's life. She served on the founding committee for Camp Piuta, helping establish a place where generations of young women would create lasting memories. As a beloved Stake Girls Camp Director in the Val Verda Stake, she became known for her outdoor skills and resourcefulness. Campers fondly remembered her demonstrations of survival techniques, stories of dispatching a rattlesnake, and her ability to turn ordinary moments into memorable adventures.

For more than thirty years, Pauline was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers North Canyon Camp. She also volunteered with the Red Cross during the aftermath of the devastating Bountiful flood of 1983.

A woman of many talents, Pauline was known for her exceptional baking and cooking, beautiful oil paintings, floral arrangements, and sewing skills. Her adventurous spirit led her to enjoy horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling, sailing, and riding her Kawasaki dirt bike.

Known locally as the "Hat Lady," Pauline shared her collection of vintage hats and their histories at nursing homes, church events, and community gatherings, bringing joy and laughter to many.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pauline served in numerous callings, including Relief Society, Primary, Girls Camp leadership, and family history work. Her testimony was reflected in the simple statement: “I never doubted it.”

Pauline's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted stay-at-home mother of three, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of twelve, including three step-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Steve Biggs, Janet Brewer (Mark), and Kathryn Schiffman (Buddy); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; and her brothers, Dee Perkes and Cordell Perkes.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Val Verda First Ward Chapel, 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will take place on Thursday October 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah, with an additional viewing at the church on Friday morning from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
