Patrick Carl Benton, Jr.

Patrick Carl Benton Jr., known by friends and family as Pat, was born in Queens, New York, on June 1, 1959. Although he was born in the city, Pat was never much of a city person. He loved the outdoors and everything that came with it. His family moved to Utah when he was a child, giving him plenty of opportunity to explore and enjoy the outdoors he loved so much.

Pat was a proud graduate of Davis High School, where he was honored with a High School All-American award and a Dr. Barnes Student Athlete in 1977. He was a talented athlete who played football, basketball, baseball and track. After graduating, he attended Dixie College on a baseball scholarship as a pitcher, and Utah Technical College.

While sports were an important part of Pat’s life, his greatest passion was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved nothing more than sharing stories about his adventures. He enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, and exploring the outdoors with family and friends. Pat also had a strong belief in Bigfoot, which made his many outdoor stories even more entertaining. He had a way of turning his adventures into stories that people loved hearing.

Above all, Pat loved his family. He married his wife, Janel Floyd, on May 19, 1990, and together they shared 36 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Janel and his four daughters: Teresa (Rodney) Dyreng, Mary Ann (Rick) Gerber, Catherine (Lance) Kobayashi, and Brittney (Adam) Hauser, and many grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Pat leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, adventures and, most importantly, the people he loved. His passion for the outdoors, his love of family, and his unforgettable stories will live on in those who knew him.

A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, August, 28, 2026, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. The viewing will be followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful.
