Patricia Ann Nelson Gledhill, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 14, 2024. She was born on March 29, 1945, to Stanley J. Nelson and Irene Jensen Nelson In Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the oldest of two children.
Pat was a lifelong resident of the Bountiful area. She attended Stoker Elementary, Bountiful Jr. High, and graduated from Bountiful High School, where she began dating her true love, Robert, steadily during their high school years. While in high school, she was active as a senior class officer and participated in various clubs. For many years, she led the committee for her high school class reunions, creating fun and inviting events for everyone.
After graduating from Bountiful High School, Pat went on to earn her degree from Weber State University. She later returned to school to obtain two master's degrees in counseling and administration from Utah State University, further demonstrating her commitment to education and her passion for helping others. Her educational achievements reflected her dedication to personal growth and her desire to make a positive impact in her community.
Education was a passion and a calling for Pat throughout her life. She taught at Centerville Junior High, Bountiful High School, and was a counselor at Bountiful High, as well. She worked with the student body officers and chaperoned numerous activities for the school. Many people claim her as their “favorite” teacher or counselor.
Pat and Robert were married on July 15, 1966. They adopted four children, Katy, Tyler, Alli, and Cassie, and settled in West Bountiful, Utah, where they raised their family.
Family was central to Pat and Robert's lives. They made the perfect team, wholeheartedly dedicating themselves to their children and grandchildren. Whether it was dance competitions, races, basketball, soccer, lacrosse games, cheer competitions, performances, or recitals, they were always there to support. No distance was too great for them to travel in order to attend their grandchildren’s various sporting events and it was frequently noted that each of their grandkids had a personal cheering section.
Pat regarded many of her close friends as family, always welcoming those in need of support or guidance with open arms. Throughout her life, she maintained a large circle of friends, including the "Six Pack" and dinner club, nurturing these relationships to ensure that everyone felt valued and cared for, just like family. Her genuine ability to connect with others and provide comfort left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Pat had a soft heart for all animals. She loved her pets dearly and would save even the smallest insects and spiders, which she encouraged everyone else to do. Pat actively supported animal shelters and rescues, most recently adopting a Goldendoodle named Stella.
