Parker Benjamin Kerns-Christensen

August 5, 1999 — August 26, 2022

Layton, Utah

Senior Airman Firefighter EMT Parker Benjamin Kerns-Christensen, 23, left this earthly existence on August 26, 2022. He was a talented athlete, an avid outdoorsman, a father, beloved son, grandson, brother, cousin, and friend. He was a remarkable soul who loved life and the people lucky enough to share it with him.

Known for an easy, sometimes mischievous smile, Parker was surrounded in life by wonderful friends — and many of them.

A gifted athlete, Parker played on baseball teams, basketball teams, football teams and soccer teams, excelling at all of them. He graduated from Bountiful High School in 2018, honored to play on the soccer and football teams.

Parker loved music, learned to play the piano and guitar, and taught himself to play the bass. His bandmates around Utah will miss performing with him. He loved the outdoors tremendously. He learned to snowboard and became an instructor at Snowbasin. He was happiest outside with a cowboy hat perched on his head and cowboy boots on his feet.

Parker enlisted in the Air Force Reserves in October 2019. After basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and Department of Defense Fire training at Goodfellow Air Force Base, he joined the fire flight at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.

In January 2022, Parker and Courtney Sorenson welcomed a baby boy, James Reed Sorenson, into the world. Parker loved James (Jamey as Parker called him) and looked forward to spending time watching James grow up.

Parker had a heart of gold. He found his calling in life serving others. He took this duty to his professional life where he worked as a firefighter for the North Davis Fire District in Northern Utah and the Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District in Southern Utah. There he added to his ever-growing group of friends.

Parker was born on August 5, 1999, in Vernal, Utah, to Jennifer Lee Kerns (Davis) and Adam David Christensen. He was a happy, playful and cheerful boy who loved spending time with his family, attending sporting events, and enjoying the company of his friends. Parker also lived in Provo, Springville, North Salt Lake, Layton, Clearfield and BrianHead.

Parker leaves behind his son James Sorenson, his mother Jennifer Kerns Davis and stepfather Jesse Davis, his father Adam Christensen and stepmother Andrea Christensen, and siblings Gabby Davis, Aubrey Davis, Taylor Christensen, Lauren Christensen, Brenna Christensen, Maggie Christensen and Maxwell Christensen. Parker also leaves behind grandparents Earl and Jeri Kerns, Clynn and Michele Christensen, Paul and Judy Mendenhall, and Sheila and Rod Petersen, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him and admired him.

The Davis and Christensen families want to share their appreciation for the outpouring of love and support they've received. In lieu of flowers, they ask that loved ones kindly consider donations to the Parker Kerns-Christensen Memorial Fund at any Mountain American Credit Union (or Venmo @ParkerKerns-CMemorialFund), or at an account at Bell Bank (Katrina Tollefson ktollefson@bell.bank), both accounts to benefit Parker’s son James Sorenson.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the LDS Stake Center, 954 West 1100 North, North Salt Lake, Utah, with graveside military and fire honors to follow at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
