Norma Joyce Quigley Goodman

Oct 25, 1930 — Jul 24, 2026

Bountiful, UT

Norma Joyce Quigley Goodman passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful, Utah, on July 24, 2026, at the age of 95, the last of her families’ generation.

Joyce was born of goodly parents, Earl and Thelma Quigley, on October 25, 1930, in the small mining town of Jarbidge, Nevada. The youngest of three children and the only daughter, she grew up in Buhl, Idaho, where she developed a strong work ethic and a joyful spirit amidst the teasing of her two older brothers Wade and Mickey.

Joyce participated in the Glee Club, Thespian Club, and was crowned Homecoming Queen before graduating from Buhl High School. She learned to play the piano from a dedicated blind pianist—a lifelong passion that brought music into her home, church, and the lives of her children, whom she taught to play.

At the age of 15, while attending a stake conference in Twin Falls, Idaho, she met the love of her life, Eldred Jay Goodman, who had recently returned from military service in World War II. Following her high school graduation, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on November 18, 1948. They began their married life on Jay’s family farm in Murtaugh, Idaho, before making their permanent home in Bountiful, Utah in 1963 where she lived until her passing.

Joyce was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, Joyce and Jay served three stake missions, served in the Oakland Temple Visitors' Center Mission, and served faithfully for ten years in the Salt Lake Temple. Throughout her life, Joyce served tirelessly in many ward and stake callings within the Primary, Young Women’s, Sunday School, and Relief Society, including as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, organist/pianist, counselor, and Relief Society President.

At home, Joyce loved being a homemaker, known for her fresh bread and cinnamon rolls, fudge, spud nut doughnuts, and her extensive home canning. Above all, she found her greatest joy in raising her family and teaching them principles of faith, hard work, and love. Following Jay’s passing in August 2002 after nearly 54 years of marriage, Joyce remained dedicated to family genealogical work, temple service, and caring for her loved ones.

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eldred Jay Goodman; her parents, Earl and Thelma Quigley; her two brothers and their wives; three grandsons; and one great-grandson and one great granddaughter.

She leaves behind a rich spiritual legacy and a loving posterity. She is survived by her seven children: Earle (Jim) Goodman, Lance (Debbie) Goodman, Vicki (Larry) Moody, Julie (Scott) Bradbury, Valie Goodman, Kevin Goodman, and Blair (Debbie) Goodman; as well as 27 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family expresses deep gratitude to her daughter Valie Dawn for her loving and devoted care during Joyce’s final years. We thank Elevation Hospice along with Jayni, Lisa, Wendy, and Dr. Joshua Oaks.
