Norma Mae Pearl Jaynes, a woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on August 11, 1934, in Thayer, Kansas, she was the daughter of Clinton Randall Jaynes and Thelma Pearl Phillips.
Norma married Donald Wayne Bailey on December 14, 1951, in Bentonville, Arkansas and was the mother of four children. She was sealed to her family in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1974. She leaves behind three of her children—Donald Jefferey Bailey, Donise Kuntz, and Donita Summers—and the current or former spouses of her children—Karen Bailey, Mike Kuntz, Bill Summers, and Cathy Stott. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Dennis Wayne Bailey, her parents, and her two siblings, Arvella Sue Jaynes and Clinton Randall Jaynes, Jr. She was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-children.
Norma’s life was marked by a sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and a strong dedication to her Savior, Jesus Christ. She had a passion for genealogy and spent countless hours tracing her family tree and serving in the temple, leaving a lasting impact on the generations who preceded her and a legacy for those who follow after her. Norma also loved sewing, reading, spending time with children, and teaching Primary. Of late, her close friends knew her as the “Dog Whisperer”.
