Noall James "Jimmy" Child

Noall James “Jimmy” Child, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in West Point, Utah, on September 9, 2026. He was born on August 25, 1942, to John and Anna Louise Child. Raised in Clinton, Utah, Noall spent his adult life in West Point, where he built a home, raised a family, and formed lifelong friendships.

He attended Clinton Elementary, North Davis Junior High, and Davis High School, graduating in 1960. He later attended Weber State College, where he graduated in 1968.

Noall met the love of his life, Saundra Flint, during their senior year of high school. Their love story began as teenagers and continued throughout a devoted marriage that was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 18, 1964. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Noall served faithfully throughout his life. He served a mission in the Northwestern States Mission and later fulfilled many callings, including service in bishoprics, the high priests group, and teaching assignments in various organizations. He especially enjoyed ministering to others and quietly serving those in need. His faith was reflected not only in his church service but also in the kindness, generosity, and compassion he showed to everyone he met.

Noall spent most of his working career with the U.S. Postal Service at the Roy branch. It was here that he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. After retiring in 1989, he worked for JCPenney and Sierra RV. He also enjoyed serving others as a hospice respite caregiver.

Noall found joy in simple things and in caring for those he loved. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, sewing, and running errands for his wife, Saundra. Friends, neighbors, and family members were often the recipients of fresh produce from his garden and handmade gifts created with love. His quilts and blankets became treasured keepsakes, wrapping generations of children and grandchildren in both warmth and memories.

In his younger years, Noall loved camping, fishing, and backpacking in the Uinta Mountains. Later in life, he enjoyed reading, working Sudoku puzzles, and watching British comedies and dramas. Following Saundra's passing, he found comfort and companionship in daily walks with his beloved dog, Lucy.

Above all else, Noall cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Curtis (Alyson) Child of Hooper, Lisa (Terry) Ralphs of West Point, and Jason (Joni) Child of Roy; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren, with one more expected in November. He was preceded in death by his wife Saundra; his parents; his sisters, Claudia and DeEtta; and 12 half-siblings.

Known affectionately as “Papa Gooey,” Noall leaves behind a legacy of love, service, generosity, and quiet devotion. His family will forever remember his steady presence, gentle nature, willingness to help, and the unconditional love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Thatcher Brook Rehabilitation Center and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during his final days.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 1585 West 300 South, Syracuse, Utah.

A brief graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point Cemetery.
