Newell Riddle

July 24, 1930 — January 7, 2026

Syracuse

He was born on July 24, 1930 in Annabelle, Utah to Renaldo and Hazel Abigail Gauchat Riddle.  He was raised in Antimony Utah along with a brother and two sisters.

In 1956 he married Shirleyann Bishoff in the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton, Idaho and they made their home in West Jordan, Utah.  From this union came three sons: Jeff, Craig and Brett.

He loved deer hunting in the mountains above Antimony and fishing at Otter Creek Reservoir.  He made trips to Alaska fishing and one of the highlights of his later life was deep sea fishing in Costaa Rica with his sons.  He and Shirely traveled to Hawaii a few times and enjoyed many trip to Rocky Point/San Carlos Mexico.

His working days were spent in transportation.  In the early 1960's he hauled cement to Page, Arizona to the construction site of Glen Canyon Dam.  When that job ended, they went back to Bountiful and he went into the transportation of LP Gas from which he retired in 1992.

In that year they began wintering in St. George and in 1997 they built a home in Santa Clara.  In 2020 they moved to Syracuse, Ut to be nearer their family.

He is survived by Shirely, Jeff (Patty), Craig (Leonie), Brett (Margo), 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

A family gathering was held prior to cremation.  Both his and Shirley's ashes will be taken to a pre-determined location at a later date.
