Nersty Camunias Corcuera, aged 65, passed away peacefully at his home in West Point, Utah on November 12, 2024. Born on April 11, 1959, in Victoria Laguna, Philippines Nersty was a man of exceptional character, known for his strong and loving nature, bravery, humor, and an unparalleled work ethic that never compromised his dedication to his family.
Following his graduation from John F. Kennedy High School in Guam in 1977, Nersty joined the Army as a Marksman. After his military service, he transitioned into a civilian role with the U.S. Navy in Guam, working as a painter and boiler maker. In March 2000, the U.S. Navy was privatized, and he was relocated to Hill Air Force Base, Utah with his family. There, he excelled as an F-22 Fighter Jet Composite Fabricator. His commendable career spanned over 38 years, earning him recognition from the Government of the United States of America for his dedicated service.
Nersty's life was enriched by his various hobbies and interests. He was an avid traveler, exploring the world with his family, and indulged in activities ranging from bowling and competitive darts to karaoke and movies. He was also a car enthusiast and enjoyed riding Harley motorcycles. His love for animals was evident in the joy he found in playing with his pets, Mochi, Harvey, Cali, and Oshie.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Beverly Jane, his sons Ian (Wowie) and Neil, and his daughter Janeanne (KC). His legacy will also live on through his grandsons, Donovan and Abel. Nersty was preceded in death by his parents, Leonides Corcuera and Lolita Camunias.
The first viewing will be Wednesday, November 20th from 6 to 8 pm. The second viewing will be on Thursday, November 21st from 12:45 to 1:45 pm, followed by funeral services and Mass at 2 pm. All viewings and services will take place at Russon Mortuary and Crematory 1585 West 300 South Syracues, Utah. We welcome our dear friends and family to attend one or both viewings, if they would like.
