Nedra Reeder Hodges

January 2, 1937 — July 31, 2023

Bountiful, UT

Nedra was born in Preston, Idaho, as the 8th child and baby girl of John Thomas and Bessie Cole Reeder. She grew up on the mountain Reeder ranch of Treasureton, Idaho. She loved her childhood of gathering lilies from the mountain fields, riding horses, and playing with her siblings. She has always loved the beauty of mountains, flowers and horses.

Nedra always loved growing things. Especially tomatoes and flowers. She loved Twinkies, chocolate and black licorice candies, and Diet Coke.

When Nedra left the ranch, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, as a young woman and got a job at the Church Office Building, where she once met the Prophet David O. McKay.

She returned to Preston to marry Neldon Bowcutt Jensen on September 1, 1958. They welcomed two children into the world, a son Neldon Richard Jensen and a daughter Karen Jensen (Lindblom) before ending in divorce in 1965.

In July 1967, Nedra married Ronald E. Hodges and moved to Bountiful, Utah. This union welcomed to the world her third child, a son Dale R. Hodges. This union, sadly, also ended in divorce in 1981.

Nedra spent many years working at the IRS in Ogden, Utah. Upon retirement from IRS, she worked as a bus hostess for Utah Trailways on trips to Wendover, Nevada. She also did some Utah tour guide hostessing, ran the office at Utah Trailways and spent a summer working at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. She also loved being a “sample lady” at Costco before finally retiring in 2020.

Nedra loved camping in the mountains and traveling. Always had a bit of a wandering bug. She loved airplanes. Flying on them and watching them! She enjoyed travel to many places around the U.S. She especially loved a cruise with her sister, Frances Butler, to Alaska, a trip to Hawaii with her daughter Karen, and many adventures with her friend David Deep.

Nedra was a cherished Mother, sister, friend, grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother of 8. Nedra was always kind and selfless, and fiercely loved her family. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

She passed away in the hospital after a short illness but years of health issues. She passed peacefully on her terms with her children and two granddaughters by her side.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Lisa) Jensen, Karen (Chip) Lindblom, and Dale (Amy) Hodges; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Penny) Lindblom, Joshua Lindblom, Benjamin (Gabrielle) Jensen, Anthony Jensen, Stephanie (Derek) Sperry, and Courtney Hodges; her great-grandchildren, Joseph Lindblom, Isabelle Lindblom, Olivia Lindblom, Emelia Lindblom, Caden Sirois, Riley Sperry, Hunter Hodges, and Kingsley Hodges; sister Alice Johnson; brothers Neale Reeder and Vernon Reeder; and best friend David Deep.
