Nancy Moss Bjornn

April 2, 1939 — June 16, 2025

St. George, UT

Nancy Moss Bjornn was born April 2, 1939, at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, to her parents James Henry Moss and Angeline Nelson Moss. She passed away June 16, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Layton, Utah.

Nancy loved growing up with her brothers, JR and Sam, in Bountiful, Utah, and always considered that her home. She learned to play the piano and organ at a young age and used that talent throughout her life to serve and bless others. She would play for hours for her grandson Jason. She was part of Bountiful High School’s first graduating class in 1957, and attended LDS Business College and Idaho State University.

She met Gary Leonard Bjornn, her eternal companion, after a church basketball game in Bountiful. They dated through their teen years and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 3, 1957. They spent their 70+ years together in Bountiful, Utah, and Meridian, Rexburg, and Blackfoot, Idaho, before they retired to St. George, Utah. She and Gary were separated in death by only a month.

She enjoyed many activities in life including skiing, golfing, and visiting the national parks around her home in southern Utah.

Nancy was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She served as both stake and ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidents. She and Gary served three missions together. Their first mission was in Hamilton, New Zealand. That was followed by a family history mission in Salt Lake City, and then the visitors center in Cody, Wyoming. She always sought opportunities to go to the temple and served for many years as a temple worker in the St. George Temple.

She is survived by her brother Samuel Moss (Mary), children James Matt Bjornn (Gina), Marianne Yates (Scott), Rebecca Wayment (Mark), and Elizabeth Thornton (Donald), 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Karol, brother James Richard (Donna), sweetheart Gary Leonard Bjornn, and grandson Jason Birch.

We would like to thank all the wonderful friends and neighbors our parents have had throughout their lives. They were blessed and taken care of by literal angels on earth.
