Mitchell Orland Bartholomew, age 83, of Bountiful, UT, passed away June 23, 2024, following complications from a head injury sustained in a fall.
Mitch was born May 4, 1941, to Orland and Roberta Botts Bartholomew in Fresno, CA. He spent many of his first years living in the Billy Creek Guard Station at Huntington Lake in the summer and Big Creek, CA, during the school year. That guard station is now a museum! (He was so old!)
He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after meeting with missionaries in January, 1962. Later that year, Mitch met Beverlie Richey Bingham in Fresno, CA. While they were dating, she also joined the church. A year later, as the only members of the church in their families, they drove by themselves in their ’55 Chevy to Los Angeles to the church’s only operating temple in California and were sealed for time and all eternity. Mitch and Beverlie went on to have three children, Chris, John and Diana. Mitch and Beverlie celebrated their 60th anniversary last October.
Mitch always worked hard to provide for his family and took pride in a job well done. He was proud to have worked for EDS in San Francisco and talked about his experiences there often. His final working years, about 24 of them, were spent at Thomson Electric in Logan, UT.
He always loved the mountains and returned every chance he got. He took his family for hikes and backpacking trips and his daughter, Diana, continued those backpacking trips with him for many years. He also taught all of his kids how to fish and they spent endless hours together in the mountains. Two days after Mitch retired, he and Beverlie hitched up their trailer and spent nearly three months traveling through Alaska and back. They spent many weeks in that trailer over the following years where he further developed a life-long love of photography.
Mitch was recently preceded in death and is now reunited with the love of his life, Beverlie. He has also been preceded by his father Orland, mother Roberta, and grandson Jared Alexander.
He is survived by his son Chris of Twin Falls, ID, son John (Debbie) of Highland, UT, daughter Diana (Travis) Alexander of Woods Cross, UT, 19 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, and his brother John Philip "Phil" Bartholomew of Oakhurst, CA.
