Michelle Smith Berry

Sep 21, 1968 — Sep 23, 2026

Orem, UT

On the very month she entered this world fifty-eight years ago, Michelle Smith Berry returned home — a detail so perfectly, poetically her, that those who loved her can only smile and say, that's Michelle.

Born September 21, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Michelle came into this life with a heart already too large for ordinary living. She graduated as valedictorian from Weber State University, a testament to a sharp and capable mind — yet the calling she answered most fully, and most joyfully, was that of mother and caregiver. She chose people over prestige, presence over recognition, and she never once looked back.

Michelle was, in every sense, a woman of pure heart. She was the loudest voice in the room when someone she loved needed cheering on, the first arms open when someone needed holding, and the first hand extended when someone was in need. Christlike is a word used carefully, but it was the word her life earned. She led not with instruction but with example, giving generously, laughing freely, and loving without condition. She simply loved to laugh — and that laugh had a way of making a room feel warmer and a burden feel lighter.

Michelle loved the outdoors and traveled the world to cherish all of Gods creations. From water/snow skiing in Utah to snorkeling off the coast of most Caribbean beaches, she met adventure with the same wholehearted enthusiasm she brought to everything else. She was all heart, all hugs, and all in.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Michelle's faith was the quiet foundation beneath everything she did. She is now reunited with her beloved son, Tyler, and her grandparents, Jay and Theda Hirschi and Melissa Nelson — a reunion that surely began with that unforgettable smile. She is survived by her sons Nathan and Joshua Berry; her daughter-in-law Kayla Berry; her parents Randy and Renee Smith; and her brothers Jeff, Greg, Brian, and David Smith.

Michelle Smith Berry passed peacefully at her home in Orem, Utah.

Heaven gained its biggest cheerleader!
