Michael Jesse Lloyd

Michael Jesse Lloyd, 77, passed peacefully in Bountiful, Utah on September 21, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Son of Keith Thomas Lloyd and Dona Marie Winget Lloyd.

In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his brother; Leland Jay Lloyd and his grandparents; Orrin Winget, Dona Crabb Winget, Jesse Lloyd, and Lovina Ileen Griffiths Lloyd. He is survived by 6 siblings. Danny Keith Lloyd, Robert Orrin Lloyd, Kay Thomas Lloyd, Sherrie Marie Houst, Shauna Harmon, and Grant W. Lloyd. He is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews.

Michael Jesse was the oldest of 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated high school at the age of 17 and tied for valedictorian with a girl from his class. Since the school wouldn't allow two, Michael selflessly stepped back and took the salutatorian award instead. That was only a small taste of the man he was. Shortly after graduation, Michael decided to enlist in the Army Special Services as a Green Beret during the Vietnam war in April 1968.

Michael served as a Medical Specialist for 2 years, 11 months and 27 days. For 10 months, Michael served in foreign countries, with a portion of that time on special ops missions where no one knew where he was. He was promoted to Sergeant on June 26, 1970, 5 days after he turned 21. He received an honorable discharge on April 26, 1971. He was put on Standby in an USAR control group and was officially discharged on April 1, 1974. Michael's military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge and Sharpshooter (rifle M-16).

In the years following, Michael became a Master Electrician and worked in that field until his accident in 2008 that left him in a wheelchair with a traumatic brain injury. Michael lived out the remainder of his life in care facilities in Bountiful, Ut. Michael's siblings, nieces and nephews would like to take this opportunity to thank Bristol Hospice Shasta, Kevin, all those that helped support Michael over the past year or more to keep him comfortable. We also want to make sure that Michelle, Robin, and all of his nurses and aids at Monument Health of Bountiful know how truly grateful we are. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the love and care that you all shared with him over these past many years. You were very much his family! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

That is not how we would like him to be remembered. We want him to be remembered for the man that he was. An oldest son who loved his parents dearly. The epitome of a big brother and caretaker. A man who would always keep a red solo cup in his car and fill it with spare change just so he could give it to his young niece to put in the piggy bank that he bought her. A man who loved music and loved to sing. A man that would step down from one of the highest honors of school, so someone else could take his place. A man who loved his Father in Heaven and is grateful to be reunited with him. Michael was a good man and deserves to be remembered for who he was.
