Melvin Johnson Ericksen, age 83, passed away of causes incident to age, in Bountiful, Utah on July 12, 2004. He had been ill for a short time and had recently been residing at Rocky Mountain Care Center. Melvin was born in Beaver Dam, Utah to Joseph Alma and Mary LaVona Ericksen. Attended Utah State College in Logan and went on a mission to the Ohio area in 1940-42. Mel met Fay while on his mission and was a frequent Sunday guest for dinner. Married Fay Adkins on October 15, 1944 in Aberdeen, Texas. Later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple October 25, 1944. Mel attended Case Western College in Cleveland, studying dentistry. While there Barbara, their 1st child was born. They would later relocate out West and continue to have 3 more children, Cindy, Paul and Lee. Melvin loved his work and his patients loved him. He was exceptional with his hands. Melvin practiced dentistry for 47 years, and extremely missed his practice and patients when he finally did choose to retire in 1998. Melvin was a remarkable man in the way he touched many lives. He was a very caring, kind, honest and compassionate person. His presence will be incredibly missed by both family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Fay Adkins and children, Barbara Steve; Cindy, Paul Rochelle and Lee Cindy; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express great appreciation for the care received through Rocky Mountain and Hospice. The support that was shown to our Dad and our family was a great comfort. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m., at the Bountiful 7th Ward Chapel, 1250 South Main. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
