Maurine Gold Arbuckle

June 4, 1940 — April 18, 2025

Centerville, UT

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, Maurine Gold Arbuckle, returned to her Heavenly Father on April 18, 2025, at her home in Centerville, Utah, surrounded by her husband and loving family. She was 84 years old.

Maurine was born on June 4, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Cyrus Henry Gold and Margaret Anne Noorda. She was raised near the banks of the Jordan River, close to her paternal grandparents and cousins—early years that planted in her a deep love for family, the gospel, and a strong sense of community. At age six, her family moved to Bountiful, Utah, where she would spend her youth developing her talents and her testimony.

Maurine was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent her life serving others in countless ways. She faithfully magnified many Church callings over the years, including serving as both Primary President and Young Women President, where she ministered with love and kindness. Whether through music, teaching, compassionate service, or personal connection, Maurine always sought to reach 'the one.' Her life was a testament to the Savior’s admonition to love and serve others.

Maurine graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Education. She was sealed for time and all eternity to Kent K. Arbuckle in the Logan Utah Temple on August 8, 1962. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Seattle, Washington, where Kent attended dental school and Maurine taught business and shorthand at a local high school. After Kent completed school, they returned to Utah to start his dental practice, eventually settling in Centerville, where they raised their family and made it their home for over 50 years.

Maurine’s most cherished role was that of mother. She and Kent were blessed with nine children: Robyn (Lynn) Layton, Kevin (E’Lane) Arbuckle, Jill (Robert) Rapp, Shannon (Keith) Johnson, Jeff (Shannon) Arbuckle, Nettie (Brandon) Lee, Mary (Cody) Stewart, Janna (Ammon) Ence, and Lindy (Kyle) Dimond. She found her greatest joy in her posterity, which includes 45 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She loved each of them individually and made it a priority to remember birthdays, milestones, and special moments. Everyone who came into her home felt loved, uplifted, and important.

She had a special love for music and used that gift to bless many lives—organizing roadshows, church programs, and family gatherings where music was always part of the celebration. She also enjoyed playing the piano, flute, and organ, having developed her talents through years of dedication and practice. Her love of music was deeply spiritual and often brought the Spirit into the lives of those around her.

Maurine had a joyful and generous heart. She was kind, thoughtful, and always seeking to serve, whether it was through a warm meal, a handwritten note, or a gospel conversation. She studied her scriptures daily and continually sought ways to strengthen her faith and share it with her family and those around her. Her testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ was unwavering, and she lived her life in a way that reflected her deep love for Him.

She also loved tennis and found great joy playing in local leagues and encouraging her family to join in her enthusiasm for the sport. Her energy and excitement were contagious, whether cheering from the sidelines or on the court herself.

Maurine served alongside her husband on two full-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Charleston, West Virginia Mission and the Melbourne, Australia Mission. They also served two service missions at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.

Maurine is survived by her devoted husband, Kent, her siblings Gaylen (Herond) Hoyt, Brent (Kathy) Gold, and LuAnne Reese, brother in-law Elwyn Tingey, her nine children, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Daryle Tingey and Cyrus Harvey Gold, and in-laws Joyce Gold and Bruce Reese, and grandsons Jared Scott Rapp and Andrew Willis Layton.

Her legacy is one of faith, family, and discipleship. She truly exemplified what it means to be a covenant daughter of God—loving, giving, and faithful to the end. Her influence will be felt for generations, and her light will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched.
