Mary was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to DeVoe and Marjorie Woolf on October 21, 1915. She was the oldest of seven children, five boys and two girls. Mary spent the first years of her life in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. In 1924, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, because her parents wanted more educational opportunities for their growing family. Mary loved to learn, and she especially loved to read. She was put ahead in school and entered the University of Utah when she was 15 years old. Mary met Harold Greene at the University, and after graduation she taught kindergarten until she married Harold. Harold and Mary lived in Connecticut, Virginia, California and after retirement they moved to St. George, Utah. Four children were born along the way: Robert, Nancy, Margaret, and David. Mary now has 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Mary was busy being a wife and mother and supporting her husband as Bishop and later in the Stake Presidency. She also served in many church callings on the Ward and Stake level including Relief Society President. Her favorite calling was serving as Gospel Doctrine Teacher with her husband, which she did for many years. She later served in the St. George Temple, with her husband, as a supervisor. After Harold died, Mary served as a Member Finding Missionary. She has lived a life of endless service to her family, church and community. In Burbank, California, her service included President of the PTA Council, Family Service Board, Drug Abuse Council, President of the Board of Education, and Member of the Coordinating Council. She was also given many book reviews throughout the years. Because of her service she was given the awards of Woman of the Year 1973, Citizen of the Year 1975, and the University of Utah presented Mary with its Emeritus Alumni Award. She also is a 75 year founding member of Delta Gamma. After the death of her first husband, Harold F. Greene in 1990, Mary married A. Edway Redd on August 6, 1997, in St. George, Utah, and they had ten years together traveling to Europe, the Panama Canal and many places throughout the United States. In February of 2005, they reached the conclusion that they should move closer to some of their children and chose the Inn on Barton Creek in Bountiful where they have received loving care. Mary?s children are Robert Elaine, Nancy Walch Willard, deceased, Margaret Agnew William, David, deceased, Lori Lunt. Sister, Margery Woolf Nichols, brothers, DeVoe M. Woolf deceased, Richard M. Woolf deceased, Dr. Robert M. Woolf deceased Dr. Charles M. Woolf, and Dr. John M. Woolf. Mary is survived by her husband, Edway Redd, and the Redd family whom she loved as her own. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the LDS Chapel, 1900 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 2:30 – 3:45pm prior to services. Interment-St. George, Utah Cemetery, under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary.
