Our family deeply regrets to inform you of the passing of a brilliant soul, wife, mother, grandmother, (and many other titles she held in this life.) Mary passed away in her Bountiful home on March 17, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Mary was born on April 12, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, to William and Verna Elmer. She attended Hillcrest High School in Midvale. At age 18, she married the love of her life Lloyd Eggett in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on September 15, 1967, by Gordon B. Hinkley.
She lived her life as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings: including being a cubmaster, working in the Primary and serving in the Relief Society. She was later able to dedicate her time to serving in the temple as an ordinance worker.
Mary was a co-owner of a fabric store that she later bought and ran successfully on her own. In later years she worked as the head cook at the Wight House. She was a brilliant seamstress in the community, often sewing dresses for the high school choir and countless wedding dresses that she meticulously hand-sewed intricate bead work.
Her love of gardening was evident by the beautifully kept yard and garden that she enjoyed with Lloyd. The house was filled with her paintings, pet rock creations and projects that she created during the span of her lifetime. She will be remembered for her creativity and love for art. Mary’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with the people she loved. She was most content with a home filled with love and laughter.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Lloyd, her children Brett (Chris), Lesley (Steve), Michael (Lisa), Melisa, Gary, and Angela, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her great-grandson Lucien and her loving parents.
We invite you to join us in honoring the life and memory of Mary, whose kindness and love touched so many lives.
