Marsha Christensen Pilgeram

Apr 14, 1949 — Oct 10, 2026

Marsha Christensen Pilgeram, age 77, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on October 10, 2026. Born in Preston, Idaho, to Pearl Stocks and Ruben Christen Christensen, Marsha lived a remarkable life devoted to compassion, service, spiritual growth, and bringing people together.

A world traveler, Marsha had a special gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. She was a place of refuge and comfort to many, offering peace and understanding to those who needed it most. Compassionate and determined, she was also known for her stubborn spirit, especially when she believed in something deeply. If someone needed help, Marsha would do whatever she could to be there. Bringing people together came naturally to her, and her home became a place where people from different cultures and beliefs could feel accepted and find common ground. For more than 30 years, Marsha extended this extraordinary hospitality to international dancers from around the globe, welcoming them into her home and creating opportunities for cultural exchange and lifelong friendships.

Marsha's own journey of learning and spiritual discovery was an important part of her life. After graduating from Viewmont High School, she earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Westminster University and continued her education in Hyderabad, India at the Henry Martin Institute where she studied Islam, Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation and at Maharishi International University (MIU) in Iowa, where she attained the status of Transcendental Meditation Sidha. Her curiosity about the world and her desire to deepen her understanding of others remained central to the way she lived and served.

Marsha dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked as a Correctional Officer at the Davis County Jail and served as president of the United Nations Association of Utah (UNAU). She also served on the boards of the Interfaith Round Table, United Religions Initiative (URI), Interethnic Health Alliance (IHA), and the Bountiful Davis Arts Center (BDAC). Through her many roles, she worked to encourage understanding, cooperation, and meaningful connections among people from different backgrounds.

In May 1966, Marsha married Anselmo Rojerio Padilla, and together they had two children, Lisa Padilla Jensen (Craig) and Laury Sean Padilla. Following their divorce, she married Carl Allen Pilgeram in November 1986 who preceded her in death.

Marsha's family grew to include her grandchildren: Mathew Jensen (Ava), Joshua Jensen, Mashara Collier (Skyler), Michaela Betker (Spencer), and McKenna Amaya (Jesus). She was also a great-grandmother to Cheyenne, Mackenzie, Bostynn, Alexa, Avalee, Monroe, Issac, Angel, Dechlan, Emerson, Brighton, Jensen, Aliyah, Della, and Jalen. Those also considered loved family members Abdullah Khalil, Boo Singletary, Darrell (Sean) Laughin, Deepak Koirala, Nanang Muhhumut-Afnan, Peter Tran, Subash Chellaiah, among so many others she considered her other children, sisters, brothers and dear friends.

Marsha's legacy extends far beyond her many accomplishments and the organizations she served. It lives on in the people she encouraged, the visitors she welcomed, the friendships she fostered, and the countless lives she touched through her generosity and compassion. She believed in helping others, celebrating differences, and creating a world where people could find connection and understanding.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, mentor, and source of comfort to many. Her strength, determination, welcoming spirit, and commitment to service made a lasting difference in her community and around the world. Though she will be deeply missed, the peace and connection she brought into the lives of others will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Marsha's life was a testament to the belief that we are all connected, that everyone deserves compassion, and that one person can make a difference by opening their heart and their home to the world. Her spirit of service and the many lives she touched will be a lasting part of her legacy.
