Marjean Brooker Simpson, age 90, was born in Paris, Idaho, on August 17, 1936, the only child of Arnold and Viola Brooker. After the passing of her father Arnold when she was very young, she gained a loving stepfather, Frank Martinsen, along with five brothers and one sister.
She married and was sealed to Thad Dahle Simpson in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1959. Together they were blessed with four children: Scott (Peggy), Sheri Clouse (Don), Shauna Handy (David), and Stuart (Carrie). She leaves a grand legacy of 14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 8 step-great-grandchildren, with more on the way.
Marjean and Thad served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: the Oakland California Mission, the Ogden City Center Mission, and as Employment Specialist missionaries.
One of her greatest joys was time spent at Priest Lake, Idaho—her favorite place to vacation—where she loved watching her children and grandchildren grow and blossom. She often said, “Come to Priest Lake for a week and grow a year.” She maintained a close and active relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved visiting Grandma and held her dear.
She is survived by her beloved husband Thad; her sister Sandra Wadsworth (Ray); her children, their spouses; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marjean was truly a disciple of Jesus Christ who lived her life in service to her family, friends, and neighbors, and the phrase “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” truly applies.
