Marilyn Dowler Thalman passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born on December 2, 1933, in San Luis Obispo, California, to Charles Nicholas and Dorothy Christena Andersen Dowler. She has a younger brother, Bert and a younger sister, Joanne.
She spent the first 7 years of her life in San Luis Obispo before her family moved to Central, Utah where she was extremely happy living around and spending time with the majority of her extended family. Her parents eventually moved to Richfield where she attended Richfield High School graduating in 1951. In her last year of high school, she started working as a nurse’s aide and enjoyed working with her mother at the hospital gaining a lot of knowledge that helped her in her life.
In the summer of 1952, she met LaVar Thalman and they were married on December 23, l952, in Las Vegas, Nevada, celebrating their 70th anniversary in 2022. They were the parents of 5 children: Randy, Teresa, Blaine, Glenn and Mike. They moved to Bountiful in October 1961. Family was important to her and she loved having parties and getting together with them.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in a variety of positions. She especially enjoyed serving in the Girls Sports Programs in the Stake and many Relief Society positions. The calling that was the most special was serving in the Bountiful Temple with LaVar. She loved being there and serving the Lord and all of the people that came to the temple.
Later in life, Marilyn found one of the happiest and joyful activities in her life – Golfing. She learned with friends how to play and continued for 40 years until she reached her goal of playing until she was 80 years old. LaVar and Marilyn golfed all over many states and loved the game and being outside together. She has many other special memories spending time with LaVar in all of their trips and activities together.
Marilyn leaves behind her sister, Joanne; children, Randy (Jan) Thalman, Teresa (Rick) Redmon, Blaine (Kathy) Thalman, Glenn (Carol) Thalman and Mike Thalman; 16 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
