Surrounded by loved ones, our beautiful Lady returned to the arms of her Jesus on the morning of Monday, March 3, 2025, at the age of 74 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on December 23, 1950, to Maria del Socorro Orbegoso Varona in Lima, Peru.
She moved to the United States in 1968 to attend school and had a deep patriotism and appreciation for the freedoms she found here. One of her proudest moments was being chosen to speak at her naturalization ceremony in 1995. Throughout her adult life she worked in the Family History Department for the LDS Church and loved working with employees and missionaries all over the world. After more than 30 years, she retired and then began a service mission in the same field. It brought her so much enjoyment.
From her earliest days, she was taught to glorify and love God at the feet of her adored Mamalita. When she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at age 12, she formed a devoted relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that carried her throughout her life. She prayed daily in gratitude and for the wellbeing of the ones she loved...which was everyone. Luisa understood what it meant to love patiently and unconditionally. She adopted people and made them hers. Despite the many challenges that she faced throughout her life, she always found joy in every situation. She was the joy in every situation. She loved to laugh and bring happiness to others. You couldn’t help but smile when you were with her or even thought of her. She was so faithful and trusted that she was in God’s hands to the very end. Her legacy is one of faith, love, and lasting happiness. Everyone who knows her is better for it.
She is survived by her children Daniel Budke (Kim), Erika Luisa Budke-McEuen, David Gary Budke (Sarah), Glen Stephen Budke, Seth Alexander Budke (Melanie), Sara Marie Stevens (Bradley), and Aubrie Ann Nutter (Derek). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and her maternal aunt Irma Herring. She is preceded in death by her mother Maria del Socorro Orbegoso Varona and her aunt Magda Gomez.
