Maria Esther Lopez Acuña

Maria Esther Lopez Acuna age 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home in

Clearfield, Utah on August 30, 2023. Esther was born on May 20, 1944 in San Miguel

del Cantil, Durango. Where she grew up with her siblings, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

When she was a little girl she loved to dance, ride horses and always loved to party.

Esther started her family in Durango and had 6 children and raised them as a single

mom doing everything she could to provide for them. She took herself and her 6 kids to

Sinaloa, and started picking tomatoes to support her kids. From there she was able to

start working as a cook after meeting an engineer and then he offered to build her a

place where she could start her own business selling food.

In 1986 she migrated to the US by herself as her kids had grown. Her family started

coming here after that. There was nothing she wanted more than for her family to be all

together. Unfortunately that wasn’t possible as she had to leave behind some family but

she would take the time to go to Mexico to visit when she could. Esther loved taking

care of everyone and would do anything she could to help anyone.

Esther became a member of the LDS church and held several callings including being a

Primary teacher and a Relief society secretary and she served with unwavering faith.

Esther loved the opportunity she had to watch her two great granddaughters Natalie

and Emma and loved teaching them to make tortillas. She also loved gardening,

sewing, crafting, shopping and cooking for her family and friends. You were always

welcome in her home with a hot meal. Esther loved having a big family which included

her 6 children, 17 grandkids and 20 great grandkids.

She is survived by: Daughter, Maria Elena Lopez Son: Alfonso (Erika) Gonzalez;

Daughter: Raquel Gonzalez; Son: Nicolas (Cecilia) Gonzalez; Daughter: Luz Maria

Gonzalez; brothers Guillermo Martinez Acuña; Bonifacio Martinez Acuña; Alejandro

Gonzalez Acuña; Sister: Melquiades Chavez Acuña; Preceded in death by parents

Gabino Lopez and Modesta Acuña Villegas; brothers: Cruzito Lopez, Manuelito Lopez,

Gilberto Chavez; Sisters: Leticia Martinez, Ortencia Martinez, Ana Maria Madrid and

son Raul Gonzalez.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday September 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.-

8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary 1585 W 300 S Syracuse UT 84075. A viewing for the

family will be on Saturday September 9, 2023 at 11:30-12:30 at the LDS church on 315 E. Chelemes

Way Clearfield Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at

the LDS church on 315 E. Chelemes Way Clearfield UT. Following the funeral the grave

dedication and burial will be held at Clinton Cemetery 750 W 800 N, Clinton, UT.

María Esther López Acuña, de 79 años, falleció inesperadamente en su casa en

Clearfield, Utah, el 30 de Agosto de 2023. Esther nació el 20 de Mayo de 1944 en San

Miguel del Cantil, Durango. Donde creció con 6 hermanos y 4 hermanas. Cuando era

niña le encantaba bailar, montar a caballo y siempre le gustaba ir de fiesta.

Esther comenzó su familia en Durango y tuvo 6 hijos y los crió como madre soltera

haciendo todo lo posible para mantenerlos. Se llevó a sí misma y a sus 6 hijos a

Sinaloa, y comenzó a recoger tomates para mantener a sus hijos. A partir de ahí, pudo

comenzar a trabajar como cocinera después de conocer a un ingeniero que le ofreció

construirle un lugar donde pudiera comenzar su propio negocio de comida.

En 1986 emigró sola a los Estados Unidos cuando sus hijos habían crecido. Su familia

comenzó a venir aquí después de eso. No había nada que quisiera más que su familia

estuviera toda unida. Desafortunadamente, eso no fue posible ya que tuvo que dejar

atrás a parte de su familia, pero se tomaría el tiempo para ir a México a visitar cada vez

que pudiera. A Esther le encantaba cuidar de todos y haría todo lo posible para ayudar

a cualquiera.

Esther se convirtió en miembro de la Iglesia SUD y tuvo varios llamamientos, entre

ellos ser maestra de la Primaria y secretaria de la Sociedad de Socorro, y sirvió con fe

inquebrantable. A Esther le encantó la oportunidad que tuvo de cuidar a sus bisnietos

Natalie, Emma, Leticia y Raulito le encantaba enseñarles a hacer tortillas. También le

encantaba la jardinería, la costura, las manualidades, ir de compras y cocinar para su

familia y amigos. Siempre eras bienvenido en su casa con un plato de comida caliente

y tortillas. Esther se sentia muy orgullosa de tener una gran familia que incluía a sus 6

hijos, 17 nietos y 20 bisnietos.

Gonzalez; Hijo: Nicolás (Cecilia) González; Hija: Luz María González; los hermanos

Guillermo Martínez Acuña; Bonifacio Martínez Acuña; Alejandro González Acuña;

Hermana: Melquiades Chávez Acuña; Le precedieron en la muerte los padres Gabino

López y Modesta Acuña Villegas; los hermanos Cruzito López, Manuel López, Gilberto

Chávez, las hermanas Leticia Martínez, Ortencia Martínez, Ana María Madrid y su hijo

Raúl González.

El velorio para amigos y familiares se llevará a cabo el viernes 8 de septiembre de 2023

de 5:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Russon Mortuary 1585 W 300 S Syracuse UT 84075. El

velorio para la familia será el sábado 9 de septiembre de 2023 de 11:30 a 12:30 en la

iglesia SUD en 315 E. Chelemes Way Clearfield Utah. Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el

sábado 9 de septiembre de 2023 a la 1:00 p.m. en la iglesia SUD en 315 E. Chelemes Way Clearfield

Utah . Después del funeral se llevará a cabo la dedicación de la tumba y el

entierro Clinton 750 W 800 N, Clinton, UT.
