Lynne Shields Versluis

Mar 2, 1950 — Aug 11, 2026

Bountiful, UT

Lynne Shields Versluis, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 76.

Lynne was born on March 2, 1950, to Ellis Reed Shields and Dorothy Sagers. She was the youngest of four children, with two brothers and a sister. From an early age, Lynne had a kind and generous heart, qualities that remained a defining part of her throughout her life.

After graduating from Bountiful High, Lynne attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, which would always hold a special place in her heart. She also completed a two-year medical technology program in Salt Lake City, after which she went on to work for a medical office in Bountiful, beginning a long and dedicated career of service to others.

Lynne has one daughter, Tracy, who grew up knowing her mom loved her more than anything. They were mother and daughter, but also best friends, and spent countless hours playing in the park, riding bikes, going to Lagoon, the zoo, and other fun places with the cousins. They both loved going on drives and were regulars at Bonneville Raceways. Lynne found an eternal companion who shared the same passion for adventure and cars, and she and Vic Versluis were married July 6, 1982, in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a house and a life together focusing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lynne loved people and made friends easily. She had a special love for children and animals. She taught Primary for nearly 30 years, sharing her patience, kindness, and love with generations of children. She also had a soft spot for animals and was always willing to provide a home and care for a stray animal in need. Her compassion extended to all living things.

Lynne found great joy in gardening. She lovingly tended her garden and especially enjoyed collecting and growing many varieties of roses, lilies, and lilacs. Her garden reflected the beauty, care, and patience she brought to everything she loved.

In the last few weeks of her life, when given a shocking diagnosis that would quickly take her life, Lynne calmly looked forward to seeing loved ones again who have already passed on, including her parents, older sister Merlene, and beloved pets.

Lynne will be remembered for her all-embracing spirit, generous heart, love of family, and willingness to care for those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and sacrifice that will continue through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
