Lynda Renee Samuelsen Holbrook

Lynda Renee Samuelsen Holbrook, age 76, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away at St. Joseph’s Villa Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a year-long battle with a broken heart from missing her sweetheart, Gordon Holbrook.

Lynda was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, at LDS Hospital on October 22, 1949, to Renee Reynolds and Allen Jerome Samuelsen, the oldest of four children.

Lynda had a remarkable memory and told many stories of her young childhood. She remembers living in Salt Lake City, Utah; Ogden, Utah; Kearns, Utah, and finally Bountiful, Utah, where she met her best friend Camille “Millie” Seeley. Millie played an important role in Lynda’s life, introducing her to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to her future husband, Gordon Holbrook.

Lynda met Gordon Lynn Holbrook at the age of 12, but it wouldn’t be until their sophomore year of high school when their romance blossomed. They continued to date throughout high school, and married on November 14, 1969, a year after graduating from Bountiful High School. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple in September 1978.

Lynda was a true patriot and loved the United States of America. Family activities always had a lesson and related craft specifically planned for the grandchildren, but the adults always walked away learning as well.

Lynda also loved her family dearly. She spent hours helping them prepare food storage, meals, and activities for family trips to many places, including Lake Powell, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, motorhome trips across the states, Hawaiian vacations, and more. 

Lynda was also very determined. She decided to learn how to play the banjo at age 40 and was fixated on organizing a family band. She picked out an instrument for each of her children to learn, and even one for Gordon.

As the saying goes, “Behind every strong man is an even stronger woman,” and that woman was Lynda. She was behind every decision for every business, especially Gordon’s CopyPrint. For years she worked the counters, ran the printing press, and organized the scrapbooking and office supplies, which she secretly loved.

Lynda is survived by her four children: Brandt Holbrook (Gina), Jana Holbrook Eubank (Kevin), Leslee Holbrook Anderton (Chris), and Chase Holbrook; 9 grandchildren; her sister, Karen Hunt; her brother, Steven Samuelsen (Patty); and her furry best friend, Libby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Jerome & Renee Samuelsen, Douglas Samuelsen (brother), Raymond Chase Anderton (grandson), and her dear husband, Gordon Holbrook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, located at 1800 Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the church before services.

Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Mortuary.
