Lynda Lee Murdock Harrison

October 1, 1943 — May 10, 2025

Centerville, UT

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lynda Lee Murdock Harrison, age 81, passed away peacefully in Layton, Utah, on May 10, 2025. Lynda was born in Heber, Utah, on October 1, 1943, to Lynn Nymphas Murdock and Mina Showalter. She grew up in Vernal, Utah, and graduated from Uintah High School in 1961. She married Gerald Clifton Harrison, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 8, 1964.

Lynda graduated from Brigham Young University in May 1965 with a B.S. degree in Nursing. She considered this to be one of the major accomplishments of her life. She worked as a registered nurse for Virgil Parker, M.D. at the Central Utah Medical Clinic, and in Labor and Delivery at South Davis Community Hospital until 1972.

Lynda loved music and served in church music callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Her first church music calling at age 10 was to play the piano for weekday Primary which she did for about four years. At age 14, she was called to serve as Sunday School organist, and she held a church music calling for the rest of her life. She served as a ward and stake choir organist for 35 years, a Relief Society pianist for 25 years, and a ward organist for 50+ years. She felt that serving through music was a treasured blessing of her life and was so grateful to have been able to play the beautiful and inspiring hymns of the gospel.

Lynda lived in Bountiful, Utah, for 13 years and then in her Centerville, Utah, home for 42 years where she devoted much of her time to raising six sons: Roger, Rodney, Nathan, Greg, Brett, and Alan. She sewed and mended clothes, canned fruit and produce, prepared countless meals, baked thousands of loaves of bread, and always sought out a bargain to help stretch the family budget. She worked alongside her sons, teaching them how to cook and bake, do laundry, clean the house, and preserve everything that came out of the family garden.

Most importantly, she taught her sons the gospel of Jesus Christ, supported them in their schooling (kindergarten through college), helped them achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, sent them on full-time missions, and rejoiced when they were sealed in the temple. Lynda had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, particularly the eternal nature of families. This knowledge sustained her in the 20 years since her beloved Gerald passed. She loved her church wards, and she had many dear and lifetime friends in both her Bountiful and Centerville wards.

Lynda is survived by her children: Roger and Julie Harrison, South Jordan, UT; Rodney and Kari Harrison, Bountiful, UT; Nathan and Shilo Harrison, Layton, UT; Greg and Cindy Harrison, Holly Springs, NC; Brett and Kae Harrison, St. George, UT; and Alan and Renelle Harrison, Winter Garden, FL; eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, LuAnn Jenson, Logandale, NV.

Lynda was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Gerald Clifton Harrison; her parents, Lynn Nymphas Murdock and Mina Showalter; two brothers, Clair Nymphas Murdock and Don Leroy Murdock; and an infant son, David James Harrison.
