Linda Kay Scott

March 13, 1945 — August 23, 2025

West Bountiful, UT

Linda Kay Scott passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 80.

Linda was born March 13, 1945, to Clifton Alfred May and Hazel Hammon May. She had five siblings: Sharon, LuDene, Ron, Bob and Dave.

Linda was raised in Heyburn, Idaho. She attended elementary school in Heyburn, where she made lifelong friends and where she was the school jack champion. She graduated from Minico High School in 1963.

Linda often told stories of growing up on the farm. Some of her responsibilities included hoeing row after row of beets, herding sheep, setting irrigation tubes, and driving a tractor from a young age. Linda carried her ability for working hard throughout her life.

Linda met Kent Scott when his family moved to a homestead in the area in 1957. They admired each other from afar for a few years and started dating in 1960. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 27, 1963.

After they were married, Linda and Kent moved to Ogden, Utah, where Kent was working for IBM. In June of 1964, they moved to San Jose, California, for three months of training. Upon returning to Utah in September of 1964, their place in Ogden was no longer available. Linda was admitted to the hospital in Ogden the day they returned from California, where Jason was born 6 weeks premature. While Linda was still in the hospital, Kent went in search of temporary housing. He found a place in West Bountiful, Utah, where they have been ever since.

Linda and Kent were blessed to welcome five children into their lives. Their “temporary” home was expanded a couple of times to accommodate their growing family.

Linda volunteered as a reading tutor at Woods Cross Elementary, and then supervised the computer lab. After a few years, she became the secretary of the school where she worked until her retirement in 2016. Linda loved working at the school. She loved the teachers, the staff, the administration, and above all, the children that she was blessed to serve.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various callings in Sunday School, the Young Women’s organization, and the Primary.

She loved being a wife, a mom, a grandma, a great-grandma, an aunt and a friend.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Kent, and their children: Jason (Melanie) Scott, Jeremy (Danielle) Scott, Jodi (Erik) Olson, Jenny (Michael) Stephenson, and Justin (Marie) Scott; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her siblings LuDene Barnard, Bob (Sheryl) May, and Dave (Debi) May; and a sister-in-law, Kathie May.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Hazel; her siblings, Sharon Heiner and Ron May; and her great-grandson, Jackson Scott.
