Leo Joseph Dick Robinson

Leo Joseph Dick Robinson, long time resident of Kearns, Utah, passed away March 11, 2006. Dick was born on February 5, 1919 in Farmington, Utah to Henry Hal Robinson and Nena Hazel Thatcher Robinson, as the fifth of seven children. Dick and his mother were fortunate to have survived the flu scourge which took many lives during that time. He grew up in Farmington and graduated from Davis High School, before serving during World War II. As a staff sargent and honored member of the United States Marine Corps he was active in the Pacific war arena, and returned home strong and able to endure anything life had to offer. Dick worked for many years after that as a bookbinder for Kelly Company, which he enjoyed. He was an avid sportsman, and as a sports fan could watch several games all at one time keeping track of each score and all the players involved. Dick married Hazel Johnson and together they had one daughter, Shauna. They were later divorced. In 1947, Dick married the love of his life, Ida Benedict Lopan, and together they raised Ida?s daughter Carol. Carol had two sons that were always a big part of Dick and Ida?s life. These two grandsons, Greg and Steven Glazier, have provided extra care for Dick throughout these last few months. Dick is survived by his two daughters Shauna Masters, Sacramento; and Carol Goddard, Salt Lake; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and brothers and sisters Dolores Clark, Pasadena; Vera R. Stringham, Bountiful; Dr. J.George Robinson, Farmington; Mary Sandberg Williams, St. George; and Hal H Robinson, Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Ida, his brother H. Thatcher Robinson, and a granddaughter. The family wishes to thank Care Source Hospice for their kind care the past week of Dick?s life, as well as Cottonwood Hospital?s special care unit and Woodland Parks Care Center. A viewing and funeral services will be held at the Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary at 1941 North Main St. in Farmington, Utah on Saturday, March 18. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. and services starting at 12:00 noon. After the funeral service, burial and dedication of the grave will take place at the Farmington City Cemetery.
