On April 6, 2012 Lena Peterson Thomas passed from this life to a better one. Lena was born October 18, 1921 in Hayden, Utah, the fourth of nine children born to George Austin Peterson and Agnes Sessions. She graduated from Provo High School. Married Paul Frank Thomas on March 15, 1941, the day before he departed to serve in World War II. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 14, 1963. Lena loved family gatherings. She was very talented in crafts, floral arranging, cooking, sewing, and ceramics. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary, Young Womens, and Relief Society. She served in the Meadow Branch Relief Society for five years.
Lena is survived by two children, Karen Hauck (Kent) and Randy Thomas (Melody); 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Paul Michael, and daughter-in-law, Sharlene.
The family would like to thank Avalon Care Center for the loving care given to our mother the last few weeks of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Bountiful 13th Ward, 1365 North 650 East. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Tuesday morning 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
