Listen to Obituary

Lee Wesley Wheeler, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 88.

Lee was born on June 24, 1937, to Lee Wilson Wheeler and Melva B. Wheeler in Glendale, Idaho. He was raised on the family's small farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. He spent his youth helping with farm work and enjoying the simple pleasures of rural life until graduating from Preston High School in Preston, Idaho.

Following high school, Lee pursued higher education at Stevens-Henager College and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged on August 14, 1961. His commitment to service continued through two years in the Utah National Guard and one year in the Army Reserve, from which he was also honorably discharged.

Throughout his professional life, Lee built a reputation for integrity, dedication, and hard work. He was employed by Utah Power & Light and later First Security Bank before finding his long-term career as a real estate appraiser in Logan, Utah. He served the community in that role until his retirement, after which he moved to the warmer climate of Southern Utah in 2003.

Lee found joy in fishing and hunting during his younger years on the farm and later embraced golf and many other activities shared with family and friends. He valued relationships deeply and possessed an extraordinary gift for remembering people. Family members often marveled at his ability to recall names and details about nearly everyone he met, making others feel recognized and valued.

In 1957, Lee married Roma Jean Federico, and together they welcomed five sons, including one who lived only a few days. In 1988, he married Kay Cherrington Hart, blending their families and adding four children from Kay's previous marriage to his circle of love and care.

Lee is survived by three of his sons, four stepchildren, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory and the example he set. His family is especially grateful for the stable, loving environment he provided, one that helped his children grow into productive and fulfilling lives.

Lee will be remembered for his kindness, his remarkable memory, his devotion to family, his service to his country, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the generations of family who were blessed to know and love him.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Logan City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Mortuary of Bountiful, Utah.

"A life well lived leaves a lasting legacy of love, service, and family. Lee's memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him."
