Lee Clark Stone

March 17, 1944 — May 26, 2025

North Salt Lake, UT

Lee Clark Stone was welcomed into the arms of our Savior on the evening of May 26th, 2025, just before midnight at the age of 81.

Lee was born on March 17th, 1944, to Merlyn Clark Stone and Oliver Curtis Cook. As a happy-natured baby with bright red hair, and born on Saint Patrick’s Day, his family often joked that he was secretly a leprechaun.

Lee grew up in Utah and California. His family had a farm, and he often spoke of his horses, dogs, milking the cows and cleaning the pig pen. He loved to tease and wrestle with his younger brothers and fish with all his siblings. Although Lee experienced many hardships in his life, he loved and honored his parents and spoke of them with great respect all of his life.

Lee faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of nineteen to West Germany. Later in life, he was also blessed to serve a mission with his wife Claudia to Upstate New York.

Lee married Claudia Scoville for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on November 23rd, 1966. Lee cherished Claudia and set the perfect example for his children of loving and honoring his spouse. He tenderly called her his “little wifey”. When Claudia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after their mission, Lee lovingly cared for her until her death in November of 2011. He has missed her so much these many years. We imagine his reunion with her has been one of great joy.

Lee and Claudia were blessed with five children on this earth. His children recall trips to the Ogden Fish Hatchery, wrestling and teasing with Lee, and the evenings when he rocked them to sleep in his rocking chair while watching his favorite shows. He made each child feel as if they were his “favorite” and referred to them as, “My favorite oldest son”, “My favorite oldest daughter” and so forth.

Lee was well known on this earth for his wisdom and sense of humor. He told his children, “If you torture the data sufficiently it will confess to anything.” He taught his kids to think things through and look at all the evidence, along with teaching them to blow straw wrappers at each other in restaurants. Most photos of him included him sticking out his tongue and giving someone “bunny ears”.

Most of all, Lee was known for his deep love and testimony of Christ. His testimony has uplifted and stood as an example to many. His greatest desire was to serve faithfully and return with honor.

Lee was proceeded in death by his wife Claudia, his parents, Merlyn and Burke Stone, and Curtis and Ruth Cook, his little sister Linda Carol, and his brothers David and Alf.

He is survived by his siblings Burke, Sherry, Roarke, Carol, Kip, Alicia Ann, Steven, Dale, Pam, Boyd, Russel, Dean, Rex and Corey. He’s also survived by his children, Lee Douglas Stone (Amy), Leeann Lauritzen (Matt), Rebecca Sjogren (James), Rachael Ethington (Richard), Aaron James Stone (Samantha), nineteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Lee will be missed greatly, but his legacy and testimony will live on. Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the presence of our Lord.

And whoso is found a faithful, a just, and a wise steward shall enter into the joy of his Lord, and shall inherit eternal life. Doctrine and Covenants 51:19.
