Lawrence Paul Jones passed away on the evening of Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah after a very brief and unexpected illness. Born December 8, 1930 in Monroe, Utah, Paul grew up working on his family ranch. Paul had a passion for sports and played on his high school baseball and basketball teams as well as the college basketball team at the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, Utah. He later enrolled at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and thereafter joined the U.S. Army where he served as a captain at Fort Bliss, Texas. Following his period of active duty in the Army, Paul re-enrolled at Utah State University to earn a second bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. After college, Paul embarked upon a longtime career with Mountain Bell, managing communication networks where he met his wife, Kathleen Allred. Kathy and Paul eventually settled in Bountiful, Utah and later North Salt Lake, Utah with their two children, Gena and Nathan. Following their retirement, Paul and Kathy moved to St. George, Utah where they lived for over twenty five years. Throughout his adult life, Paul was an avid landscaper and planter and created beautiful landscapes surrounding all his homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Edna Jones, his grandson, Jacob Robertson and recently on March 22, 2023 by his wife, Kathleen. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and has joined his loving wife of over sixty years, Kathleen for eternity. He was the best of men and will be truly missed.
Our father requested no funeral services and out of our love and respect for him, that wish will be honored.
