Laurene Bourland Bunn

d. November 22, 2004

Laurene Hayward Bourland Bunn, 85, passed away at her home on November 18, 2004 after a long illness. Laurene and her twin brother, Laurel, were born September 3, 1919 in Chester, Utah to Hugh Adelbert Hayward and Alta Justesen Hayward. She married Hughes Edward Bourland on June 2, 1940 in Bountiful, Utah and they were the parents of one daughter and three sons. Hughes passed away August 31, 1967. She then married Richard L. Bunn on August 3, 1979 in Bountiful. Laurene?s childhood was spent in Chester, Utah, then Rupert, Idaho and finally Bountiful where she spent most of her adult life. She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville and attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught in the Primary organization for many years. Laurene and Hughes lived in Bountiful where she stayed at home for several years raising their family. She began her working career by helping her dad, a butcher at Hayward?s Market, each fall during deer season. She became a checker at Hayward?s and later at Albertson?s before moving to the Utah State Tax Commission where she worked until she and Richard moved to Houston, Texas. She worked for Texaco Houston Credit Union until her retirement at age 69 and they returned to Bountiful where she spent the remainder of her life. Laurene devoted her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Even until her last days, her eyes would light up and her smile would beam whenever her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews entered the room. She was always a source of encouragement and positive direction to all. But the most special twinkle in her eye was for her husband, Richard. They were partners in all the ups and downs of life until about seven years ago when Laurene?s health began to decline. Since then she has been the recipient of the most loving unselfish care possible from him. Whatever she wished for, from her favorite cake or pie to a new watch or a pair of shoes, ?magically? appeared. Her children will be eternally grateful. Laurene had many special friends whom she loved and she appreciated all that each one added to her life. Laurene is survived by her husband; daughter, Terrie Terry Jones; sons, Martell, Darrow and Brad Marcie; stepdaughters, Karen Mora, Wendy David McGarvin, and Tonia Bunn; sisters, Huetta VernonThomas, Colleen Dwain Moss; brothers-in-law, Michael Lucille Bunn and John Eagle; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, her brothers, Laurel, VeNoy, and his wife, Dorothy, and her sister-in-law, Judith Bunn Eagle. Laurene was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all of us to whom she meant so much. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Kimball Mill Ward Chapel, 650 South 200 East, Bountiful, Utah.
