LaRue Bitter Nelson

LaRue Bitter Nelson passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024 at the remarkable age of 97. Born in Red Lodge MT, she was the only child of Howard Bitter and Beatrice Waddoups Bitter. She spent her early years in Red Lodge, Idaho Falls, ID and Salt Lake City, UT. A graduate of West High, she attended the University of Utah.  

In 1947, she met the love of her life, Vaughn Nelson, on a blind date to Lagoon. They resided in their home in Bountiful, UT for 62 years. LaRue enjoyed a long career with the Utah Department of Employment Security. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years. She deeply appreciated Vaughn’s love of vintage automobiles and together they traveled throughout much of the U.S. on vintage car trips with their many friends. 

She is proceeded in death by her husband and survived by her 3 children.  

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
