Laretta May (Reaveley) Larsen

December 9, 1936 — June 18, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Laretta May Reaveley Larsen passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in her Bountiful, Utah, home supported by her loving husband, their sons and daughters-in-law, as well as extended family and friends. She leaves with each of them a legacy of enduring love, unwavering faith, and lifelong service.

Laretta was born on December 9, 1936, in Consumers, Utah, to George Douglas Reaveley and Belle Gentry. The youngest of five children, she was raised in the coal mining town of Hiawatha in Carbon County. Her childhood was centered on faith, gentle perseverance, and the strong bonds of family—traits she carried throughout her life. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1955.

On October 26, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, David E. Larsen, in the Salt Lake Temple. They soon moved to San Mateo, California, where they welcomed four sons: Doug, Wayne, Glen, and Ken. In 1966, the family returned to Utah and made their home in Bountiful, where children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would grow under Laretta’s gentle guidance and Christlike love.

Laretta contributed to her family and community by working in the school cafeteria, later as an office clerk, and also through countless acts of service to those around her—all while raising a family and nurturing a loving home. Her hands were rarely still, as she skillfully sewed much of her children’s clothing, baked bread, canned fruit, served neighbors, and used those same hands to gently tickle her grandchildren to sleep as she sang songs about their favorite things. With a heart full of love and hands ready to serve, she was practically perfect in every way.

As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Laretta served in many callings, including as a devoted Relief Society President, a leader in the Heritage Care Center Branch, and as a volunteer on Temple Square. Alongside her husband, she also served full-time in the Tampa Florida Mission. Her life was a quiet testament to service, compassion, and unwavering testimony.

She is survived by her husband, David; their sons Wayne (Judy) Larsen, Glen (Teresa) Larsen, and Ken (Susy) Larsen; daughter-in-law Nadene Larsen; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved son, Doug.
