LaMoyne Mark Jensen, 88, of Kaysville, passed away peacefully December 10, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1937 in Brigham City, Utah, and is the oldest child of Mark Munns Jensen and Edna Meyerhoffer Jensen.
LaMoyne grew up in South Ogden and graduated from Weber High School. One of his earliest jobs was delivering newspapers and working at Emory’s Drug Store, where he ordered penny candy and delivered prescriptions on his bike. These responsibilities taught LaMoyne the importance of saving money and also instilled in him a strong work ethic at a young age. Working at Emory’s led to LaMoyne’s future career in the pharmaceutical industry.
LaMoyne was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he particularly enjoyed teaching and working with the youth. He served a full-time mission in the Western States Mission. During that time, he formed a lifelong friendship with his missionary companion, Paul Munns. We know they are now joyfully reunited and continue to share the gospel. Upon completion of his full-time mission, LaMoyne served his country in the United States Navy for two years aboard the USS Pickett. He loved telling stories from his Navy days to his children and grandchildren.
LaMoyne married Phyllis Barnum in the Salt Lake Temple on April 13, 1961 and they celebrated over 64 years of love and memories together. They raised five wonderful children together in Roy, Utah and later moved to Kaysville during his retirement years.
As newlyweds, square dancing became a favorite activity resulting in many lifelong friendships. Later, as empty nesters, they enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Favorite destinations included Branson, Missouri; Victoria, British Columbia; and Hawaii.
Camping trips to the Uinta Mountains when their children were young and reunions to Wolf Creek as the family grew larger created many cherished memories.
LaMoyne excelled at pitching fast-pitch softball and competed in the All-Church Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament in 1956, which had always been his dream. He later coached his sons in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed supporting his daughters with their piano recitals and softball. He was an endless supporter of his children and grandchildren in their sporting, school, and other activities. He spent over 26 years officiating softball, baseball, and football throughout northern Utah.
LaMoyne learned to play the piano and accordion by ear during his elementary school years and later in life enjoyed telling people he never had a single music lesson. He was an amazing piano player and actively played both instruments throughout his entire life and especially enjoyed playing at family gatherings for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A favorite of the kids was the hokey-pokey. He was still playing the piano and entertaining others just a few days before his passing.
LaMoyne was a successful pharmaceutical rep and diabetic educator for over 38 years and is a member of the Becton Dickinson Hall of Fame.
But most of all, LaMoyne loved his wife with all his heart. While playing the piano, he would sing to her “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”. He continually told her “I love you”, and these were his final words, spoken to Phyllis, before his passing.
LaMoyne is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis, and five children: Kerwin (Sydney) Jensen, Kirk (Michelle) Jensen, Kent (Natalie) Jensen, Annette (Dallan) Thackeray, Amy (Craig) Jarman. He is survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (one more great-grandchild on the way).
He is also survived by two sisters and a brother: Utonna Zinie, Flora (Claron) Hoskins, Eddo (Donna) Jensen.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
