Kristi Lynn Mahin Spencer

September 22, 1957 — November 13, 2021

Kristi Lynn Spencer passed away November 13, 2021 in Ogden, Utah after a battle with COVID-19. Born September 22, 1957 in Smithville, Missouri, Kristi was the daughter of Charles and Roberta Mahin. Kristi’s family moved to Granger, Utah at a young age where she was raised with her two sisters. She graduated from Granger High School and then graduated cum laude from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Management. On November 27, 1982, she married her beloved, Mike Spencer. Together they had three children: David, Daniel, and Kellie. They lived in several states and eventually settled in North Ogden, Utah, where their family was raised.

Kristi worked in business management throughout her life and enjoyed the relationships she built along the way.  She particularly enjoyed working with John and the people at John W. Hansen & Associates Real Estate. Eventually she and John formed K & J Management Services, a property management company. She was happy and proud of her work in property management.

Kristi enjoyed being a mother. She made it a point to be involved in her children’s lives and supported their interests and activities. She would let their friends know that they were always welcome to stay at her house.  Summer trips and vacations with the family were always fun.

Kristi and Mike enjoyed each other’s company. Walking the dog in the foothills above their home was a favorite pastime. She had loving memories of their numerous travels including Hawaii, the Oregon coast, the Caribbeans, San Diego, and Florida. She was a fan of the University of Utah and attended all the home football games. She especially enjoyed the bowl games as they gave her another chance to travel.

A kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Kristi is survived by her husband, Mike; her children David (Amanda) Spencer, Daniel (Becky) Spencer, and Kellie Spencer; and by her sisters Keri Casper and Kim Casper. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and loved to have them visit so she could hug them. A popular activity with the grandchildren was Grandma’s annual Sun Day Fun Day. This was a mid-summer activity that involved plenty of water and entertainment.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff and all others at Ogden Regional Medical Center for their care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to one Kristi’s favorite charities, The Ogden Rescue Mission.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the LDS chapel located at 1250 S. Main St., Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:15-10:15 AM prior to services. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and how it affected Kristi’s life all guests are requested to wear masks. Online streaming will begin 10 minutes before the service and can be accessed on Kristi’s obituary page at www.russonmortuary.com or on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page.
