Kristen Call Satchwell peacefully passed away Friday afternoon August 22, 2025 following a 12-month valiant fight against Glioblastoma brain cancer. Kristen was 58 years old. She graduated from mortality with high honors!! She was surrounded by her loving mother, siblings, spouse, children, grandchildren, and hosts of angels who welcomed her into the next life with open arms and cheers and celebration!!
Kristen was born in Bountiful Utah on November 22, 1966 to loving parents who taught her the truths of the gospel. She was the second of 6 children and the oldest daughter to Henry Dee Call and Ann Dibble. She had a believing heart from birth, and always knew right from wrong, and truth from error, and had the courage to hold to truth and choose the right. She was blessed with wonderful siblings and parents who supported and loved one another and with whom she had a glorious and happy upbringing. In the Call home, she came to love the gospel of Jesus Christ, music, reading, and the great outdoors. Camping in the mountains was something she loved all her life, and she would often recite the quote from naturalist John Muir, “the mountains are calling, and I must go” whenever she had a yearning for beauty. She was blessed with dear and faithful friends in her early childhood and all through her elementary, Jr. High, and High School years. These friends spent time with her and ministered to her up until her last days, and they brought her so much joy and happiness. Kristen was an excellent student and sought and valued education. She graduated from Utah State University with a Batchelor of Science degree in Special Education, with an emphasis in early childhood severe disability. She was among the first in the state to have this specific emphasis, and she worked in the Davis School District and served children at the South Davis Community Hospital with severe disabilities. She loved this and served in this professional capacity for 4 years, but her true passion and desire was to be a mother, and after 4 years of teaching, she was able to labor all the rest of her days in teaching, loving, and raising her beautiful children. This was her one true love and her most cherished calling in life!! Kristen met her eternal companion while at Woods Cross High School in Bountiful, in the summer of 1984. Steve Satchwell and Kristen Call were sealed for all eternity in the Salt Lake temple on March 11, 1989. They began a road together that would be full of highs and lows, challenges and joy, and while they thought they loved each other as much as could ever be possible when they were married more than 36 years ago, they learned that with every passing day that love only deepened and grew. That love especially grew as children were sent to them, and the love that enveloped them from their dear mother was a cocoon and a shield to them. She gave each one of her children the best possible chance to grow and develop into the humans God had intended. Kristen was blessed with 5 wonderful children, Tanner, Caleb, Ashlyn, Emma, and Mia. Kristen was as devoted to her faith, as she was to her spouse and children, and exemplified the pure love of Christ in everything she did. She served in many callings and blessed many lives as she actively participated in proclaiming the gospel in both word and deed. A highlight of church service came recently, as Kristen along with Steve were able to serve a service mission, leading addiction recovery classes in the Davis County Jail. It was here that Kristen learned how intensely God loves each and every one of His children, and how Christ is in relentless pursuit of each and every soul on this Earth, no matter the path they may have chosen! Kristen loved the Book of Mormon and read it faithfully every day until she could no longer read to herself. She also faithfully spoke with her Heavenly Father every day, and when words became few, her prayers were simply of gratitude for the Savior, and a request for forgiveness, over, and over again. She taught us all by this example until the moment she went to meet that God who gave her life, and oh, what a meeting this was!!!!
Kristen leaves behind her husband Steven B. Satchwell, sons Steven Tanner (Sara), Caleb Call (Summer), daughters Ashlyn CarolAnn (Brandon Comer), and Mia Carmen, and 4 amazing grandchildren (2 boys and 2 girls, with another granddaughter on the way!). Kristen is also survived by her mother Ann Dibble Call Leonard (Glen), brothers H.D. Call Jr. (Chrisi), Brian Dibble Call (Natalie), Steven Dibble Call (Tara), and sisters Katherine Call Bates (Hyrum), and MaryAnn Call Barclay (Jeremy). She joins in Heaven her daughter Emma Kristen, and her Father Henry Dee Call.
