Kirsten Gwilliam

April 17, 1968 — October 25, 2021

Kirsten Gwilliam was born April 17, 1968, to Robert L. Gwilliam and Sandra Smith (Barton) in Albany, Georgia. She died October 25, 2021 at home in Kaysville, Utah.
Kirsten was talented in many areas, especially with languages and music. Kirsten taught herself sign language as a teenager, this led to many years working and associating in the deaf community. Kirsten served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Las Palmas, Spain. She loved Spain and also found a deaf community to serve while there. Later, as Kirsten was doing genealogy, she taught herself Swedish to understand the documents she was reading. After her mission Kirsten worked as a DeafBlind specialist and learned Braille at the Helen Keller Institute for DeafBlind Youth and Adults.
Kirsten enjoyed traveling to new and fun places. She also enjoyed playing scrabble and joined a local scrabble group, often traveling to compete in tournaments.
Many weekends Kirsten had her nieces at her home for sleepovers. Family was very important to her. She loved being with family at camping and monthly birthday parties.
Kirsten is survived by her mother Sandra Gwilliam; step-mother Junetta Gwilliam; her biological father Dennis (June) Hakanson; siblings Cindy (Galen) Wagstaff, Mitch (Crisanta) Gwilliam, Jeff (Amy) Gwilliam, Ben (Jen) Gwilliam, AnneMarie (Kent) Pilkington, Leslie (Jeff) Clark, Michelle (Steve) Hock, Annette (Dave) Carter, Kim (Cary) Martin and Rob (Melanie) Easton; and her numerous nieces, nephews and niblings who were very dear to her.
