Kent Alan Dastrup, born September 21, 1953, passed away March 30, 2026, with his family by his side.
Kent was born in Salt Lake City, and then moved and grew up in Southern California. He attended Corona High School and was a gifted athlete and talented trombone player. He had wonderful friends and was able to enjoy many experiences including a trip to Europe with his high school jazz band. His love for these activities never faded and was a constant source of joy to him.
His love for life was serving people. He served a mission to the Kobe Japan mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission, the people, and the Japanese culture was something that he cherished his entire life.
Kent attended Brigham Young University and it was there where he met his future wife, LoraLee Ware Dastrup. He married LoraLee on May 1, 1976, in the Salt Lake Temple. Kent and LoraLee had four sons. They were able to live in many places and made many life-time friends in every place. Their home for the past twenty-six (26) years has been in Centerville, Utah.
Kent attended Creighton Dental School and was able to practice in Centerville. He was known by his patients and colleagues not only for his technical skills but for his bedside manner. Kent had a unique ability to put people at ease, treating every patient with the same dignity and care he gave to his own family. In particular, his patients always said he gave the best shots before performing gentle, quality work.
Kent is survived by his wife LoraLee (Ware) Dastrup, his sons Ryan W. Dastrup, Eric Tyson Dastrup (Kami), Zachary Shawn Dastrup, four grandchildren, and his siblings. He is joining his parents, his sister, and his son, Brad Kent Dastrup.
Above all his accomplishments, Kent’s greatest devotion was to his family. He was a man of gentleness and kindness to all. His family was his world, and his loss will be felt deeply by many.
