Keith Garrett Hepler, 84, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at his home in Farmington, UT.
Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Kenneth and Dorothy (Adams) Hepler, Keith grew up in Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1958. He immediately joined the Air Force and began his life-long career of military service in basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from basic training, he completed technical training as an Aircraft Electrician and was assigned to Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Maine. He maintained KC-97 Stratotankers and B-52 Stratofortress bombers assigned to the Air Force’s Strategic Air Command during the height of the Cold War. It was there in Maine where he met the love of his life, Rosemary Peavey.
Keith and Rosemary married in 1962 and built a life together centered around family, love, and adventure. Keith had a long and storied career of service to our country. He retired from the Air Force at age 60 after more than 12 years on active duty maintaining aircraft and the Minuteman weapon system, and another 15 years supporting airlift missions in the Air Force Reserve. In his simultaneous civilian career as an over-the-road truck driver, he logged more than a million miles, winning numerous Safe Driver awards before retiring.
Keith was known for his generosity and kindness, always eager to spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was always “there” at every graduation and wedding for his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary (Peavey) Hepler, and sister, Diana (Hepler) Richmond.
He is survived by his sons, Keith (Heidi) Hepler Jr., Ken (Boni) Hepler, and Eric (Lisa) Hepler; his brother, Kurt (Linda) Hepler; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In honor of Keith’s memory, donations may be made to the American Legion, reflecting his lifelong service to his country.
Keith’s legacy of service to his country in both his military and civilian careers, and his kindness to all will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
