Keith Hugo Eberhard

Keith Hugo Eberhard was born on September 17, 1942, to Hugo and Doris Eberhard. He had an ideal childhood on a family farm in Melba, Idaho — a place that instilled a lifelong adoration of all things farming and a strong work ethic. He graduated from Melba High School in 1960.

After high school, Keith honorably served in the Army Reserve, completing six months of active training followed by a five-year commitment. In 1962, he served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission — an experience that strengthened his faith and deepened his commitment to service.

Keith earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Utah State University in 1967 and completed a master's degree in applied statistics in 1969. On December 27, 1968, he married Julie Ann Walker in the Logan Utah Temple. Their marriage was blessed with a large and loving family of nine children.

Keith worked as a senior software engineer for several companies across a career spanning more than four decades, eventually retiring from Hill Air Force Base in 2021 at nearly 80 years of age. His analytical mind and sharp attention to detail served him well throughout his professional life.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keith quietly and faithfully served in many callings over the years, finding joy in being an active part of his ward family.

Keith was above all a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Julie Ann Eberhard; his brother, Wynn (Linda) Eberhard; his precious children, Melanie (Bradley), Brent (Robyn), Susan, Loren (Karen), Maria (Dave), Roslyn (Ryan), and Spencer (Kate); 26 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two beloved children, Karen and David.

Keith took great pride in his half-acre of land in Utah, home to a garden of legendary proportions — replete with fruit trees, abundant vegetables and a raspberry patch whose sweetness was shared with hundreds of family members and friends.

If Keith had an unofficial calling, it was Family Videographer. Piano recitals, school plays, choir concerts, talent shows — if one of his children or grandchildren was performing, Keith was there, camera or camcorder in hand, angling for the best shot like it was a matter of principle. He filmed countless milestones this way, quietly narrating from behind the lens, and left behind a treasure trove of recordings that the family still enjoys today — proof of every recital, every solo, and every proud-dad moment he refused to miss.

That same instinct to document and preserve found its ultimate home in his den, where Keith kept an extensive, meticulously organized archive of recordings. Covering science, music, sports, and dance, it is an archive that would make any librarian proud — carefully curated by a man who spent his career making sense of data. It's a treasure trove in the truest sense, and his family may spend years discovering everything he so lovingly saved.

Keith was known for his thoughtful, analytical nature and his sincere desire to do his best in his personal goals. He valued his health, exercising regularly and watching what he ate with the same steady discipline he applied to everything in life. He had a deep appreciation for beautiful music and good education. He was known for the way he treasured the memories of his childhood on the family farm in Melba, Idaho, and often reflected fondly on those formative years — so fondly, in fact, that he kept a jar of Idaho soil at his Utah home, a small but telling reminder of just how much that place meant to him. He was known for his happy demeanor, commitment to the gospel, and love of his family.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Russon Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, Utah from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Steed Creek Chapel, 347 S. 200 W., Farmington, Utah, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m..
