Kay Elizabeth Banta passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Kay was born on January 23, 1940, in Ogden, Utah. She is the daughter of William and Maxine Galbraith.

Kay married Allen H. Banta on March 14, 1958, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Their adventures together took them to many states as Allen fulfilled his 20-year commitment to the United States Navy. They returned to Utah in 1975 where they eventually settled in Ogden. Kay had a successful hair salon in the basement of their Ogden home. She loved to create unique crafts and could make just about anything with a glue gun and paint supplies. Kay and Allen loved traveling together including cruises, cross-country visits to family, Hawaii, and get aways to Wendover.

Kay was the life of the party. She had a unique gift of always making others laugh and feel loved. She had a never-ending personality that was compacted into her 5-foot frame! Kay made friends wherever she went and enjoyed hosting elaborate parties that required weeks of planning and decorating. Her extended family and numerous friends were a source of many laughs, and she appreciated all who had been so kind to her over the years. She truly loved them. Her greatest love was her family, and she was famous for telling each grandchild that they were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings (Bill and Marianne), her husband and two granddaughters. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Terie (Brent) Strong, Jennifer (Reed) Montierth, Kenneth (Lori) Banta and Michael (Diana) Banta and her brother Bruce Galbraith who she adored. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 1, 2025, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1585 West 300 South, Syracuse, UT, at 11:00 am, with a viewing held one hour prior. The internment will be at the West Haven Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Inspiration Hospice team, particularly Katie and Willow, as well as the staff at Country Pines Assisted Living for the care and compassion they showed to Kay.
